Intuitive eating is a mind-body approach that focuses on discovering, listening to, and responding to your internal body cues. Only you are the expert on your body and know what hunger, fullness, and satisfaction feels like and intuitive eating helps you to honour those cues to meet your body’s physiological, emotional, and psychological needs.

Intuitive eating is not a diet plan. There is no pass or fail. It is a journey that helps you find connection to your mind and body and allows you to feel liberated from diet culture.

Intuitive Eating was developed by two fellow Dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch and comprises 10 principles:

  1. Reject the diet mentality
  2. Honour your hunger
  3. Make peace with food
  4. Challenge the food police
  5. Discover the satisfaction factor
  6. Feel your fullness
  7. Cope with your emotions with kindness
  8. Respect your body
  9. Movement – Feel the difference
  10. Honour your health – Gentle nutrition
