George is a warm, empathic and compassionate therapist and is currently studying a Masters of Clinical Psychology through the University of Newcastle. She is an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society.
George has previously worked as a wellbeing officer, school counsellor and with Headspace services. This experience in the mental health field for the last 10 years has formed an understanding and connection to working with children, teens and adults presenting with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, perinatal concerns, adjustment to life stressors, and grief and loss. George uses a range of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, and general supportive counselling.
Having undertaken specific eating disorder training she is able to combine her passion and interest in supporting individuals and families build a stronger more positive relationship with body image, eating and weight. George supports the exploration of challenging beliefs and thoughts that make eating difficult and create a space for development and trial of psychological therapeutic strategies.
As a provisional psychologist, George is in her final stages of registration having completed her 4yrs of university studies. George is supported by two Clinical Psychologists who provide weekly consultation and supervision. As a client of George’s, you can be assured that you are going to be well supported by our team and be receiving the most current evidenced based treatment options.
