Why We Don’t Offer Online Bookings – A Conscious Choice for Personalised Eating Disorder Care.
At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we understand that seeking support for an eating disorder can be a deeply personal and sometimes overwhelming step. That’s why we don’t offer automated online bookings. Instead, we take the time to connect with you as a person first, ensuring that you receive care that is compassionate, individualised, and truly supportive.
Many clinics offer quick, self-service bookings, but we’ve made a conscious decision to do things differently. From the very first point of contact, our goal is to make you feel heard, understood, and comfortable—pairing you with the right clinician and the right support based on your unique needs, as opposed to just booking the next available appointment.
How We Support You from the Start
✔ Complimentary Intake Call – A Thoughtful First Step
Before booking your first appointment, we offer a complimentary intake call with our experienced team. This is a warm, compassionate conversation where we take the time to:
• Understand your concerns and any symptoms you may be worried about.
• Learn about any support you’ve already sought, including your GP and other health professionals.
• Discuss your care team and referral needs, ensuring that your treatment is coordinated and aligned with best-practice care.
• Provide an opportunity for you to ask questions about our clinic, treatment options, fees and rebates.
This call is completely pressure-free, and you are welcome to share only what you feel comfortable with. Our team is kind, caring, and non-judgmental, and our priority is to ensure you feel safe and supported from the very first conversation.
✔ Personalised Pairing to the Right Clinician
Eating disorder care is not one-size-fits-all. Our team includes highly experienced credentialed eating disorder clinicians, and we take the time to connect you with the most suitable clinician based on your personal needs, goals, and treatment preferences.
✔ Flexible, Client-Centred Appointment Options.
We offer face-to-face sessions, telehealth or combination of both, to provide care in the way that best supports you. Our priority is ensuring that when you attend an appointment, you feel comfortable, respected, and empowered in your recovery.
✔ Appointment Reminders & Easy Rescheduling
We send courtesy email and SMS reminders to give you ample time to reschedule or cancel if needed—helping you avoid cancellation fees while ensuring appointment availability for others.
✔ Priority Waitlists for Your Convenience
If you need a specific day or time and we’re fully booked, no stress! We can place you on our priority cancellation list so that if an appointment becomes available, we can offer it to you as soon as possible.
At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we believe that human connection is at the heart of recovery. From the moment you reach out, we are here to listen, support, and guide you with kindness and expertise.
📞Please call us on (02) 43 623 443 when you are ready to connect with care. We’re here to help you take the next step, in a way that feels right for you.
Third-Party Funded Services
At Myrtle Oak Clinic, we understand that accessing the right support is essential, and we proudly accept third-party funding arrangements to help you receive the care you need.
NDIS Clients
While Myrtle Oak Clinic is not a registered NDIS provider, we can work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. All of our clinicians are experienced in supporting NDIS-funded clients.
To ensure a smooth process, please follow these steps:
- Inform our reception team at the time of booking if you plan to use NDIS funding for your sessions.
- Confirm your NDIS funding type:
- Plan-managed: We will invoice your NDIS plan manager directly.
- Self-managed: You will pay for your sessions upfront and arrange reimbursement through your NDIS plan.
- Mention your NDIS funding during your intake call. Since NDIS pricing is lower than our standard consultation fees, we have limited availability for NDIS-funded sessions. Notifying us early allows us to plan accordingly and provide you with clear information on appointment availability.
- Our team has received NDIS procedural training, ensuring compliance and the ability to provide high-quality, tailored reports and services specific to NDIS requirements.
Medicare Rebates
- Myrtle Oak Clinic provides services that are eligible for Medicare rebates when accessed with a valid referral from your GP.
- Medicare rebates are available for Accredited Practising Dietitians and Registered/Clinical Psychologists providing eating disorder treatment therapies.
- Please note: Myrtle Oak Clinic is not a Bulk Billing service. Clients will need to pay for their sessions upfront, and Medicare will provide a partial rebate.
Private Health Insurance
- If your private health insurance covers dietitian or psychology services, you may be eligible for rebates.
- On-the-spot claims processing is available at our Tuggerah and Broadmeadow clinics via HICAPS, allowing for quick and convenient rebate claims.
- As rebates vary depending on your insurer and level of cover, we encourage you to check directly with your private health provider to confirm your out-of-pocket costs.
Workers’ Compensation & Third-Party Insurance Claims
Myrtle Oak Clinic provides services for clients referred under workers’ compensation, insurance claims, and third-party funding arrangements, including individuals in out-of-home care.
If you are seeking services under a third-party arrangement, please:
- Inform our reception team at the time of enquiry that you intend to use third-party funding.
- We will provide you (or your case worker) with a third-party intake form to collect the necessary details.
- Once we receive written approval from the funding body, we will schedule your initial assessment.
- Following your assessment, we will submit a report to the funding party. If ongoing sessions are approved, we will proceed with booking your future appointments.
Please note: We are unable to schedule any sessions until we have received formal approval from the funding body.
If you have any questions regarding third-party funding options, our friendly reception team is here to assist. Contact us today for more information.

A cancellation fee (plus transaction fee) will be charged for appointments cancelled/rescheduled within 48 hours of the appointment time. Like other businesses, we have implemented this cancellation policy to reflect the clinical time set aside for you. The cancellation fee is lower than the 100% cancellation fee recommended by the Australian Psychological Society. If we are able to fill the cancelled/rescheduled appointment spot, any cancellation fee charged will be refunded.
We will not be able to schedule another appointment until the cancellation fee has been paid.
In reference to the current COVID environment, and our cancellation policy, we encourage you to consider changing to a telehealth session should you become unwell within 48 hours of your appointment. You can do this by phoning our clinic prior to your appointment.
