Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a short term, structured, treatment option, based on attachment and communication theories, that recognises that mental illnesses, such as depression, and interpersonal problems are related. IPT aims to strengthen interpersonal relationships and increase social supports. This in turn helps the client to handle the challenges they are facing and reduce the symptoms that are distressing them. IPT is flexible and adaptive and can be used as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with other therapies. IPT is particularly useful to treat depression.

The skilled clinicians at Myrtle Oak Clinic are experienced with working with IPT and are available to help you develop an understanding and put strategies into place and step forward in life.
