Group Therapy / Workshops provide a supportive network of people who have similar issues to explore around eating disorders. Groups can be an effective form of treatment, used to explore underlying conflicts, promoting symptom control and allowing deeper issues to be discussed in a supportive environment. They may address issues around helpful coping strategies, behaviour change or readiness to change, potential trigger stimulus and relapse prevention. Groups are generally closed in attendance for a specific period of time (eg. 6-8 weeks). Family and friend workshops help in understanding what it is like to have an eating disorder and how best to help your loved one. We cover topics such as how to communicate with your loved one and how to approach the complex recovery process.
